BLOG – What are YOUR Favorite Golf Courses??

We took this photo from the 2nd tee of Wolf Creek GC in Mesquite, NV.
Like many of you, I have played several if not hundreds of golf courses in my career. I certainly am partial to University Park CC here in Sarasota where I am one of the Professional Instructors. But I would also have to add a few of my other favorites that you too may enjoy – both for beauty and challenge. The three I point out today are: 1) WOLF CREEK GC in Mesquite, NV; 2) VICTORIA NATIONAL CC in Newburgh, IN; and 3) TULLYMORE Golf Resort in Stanwood, MI.
Tell me some of your favorites and why in the “Leave a Reply” form at the bottom of this Blog’s page. If you’re still on the home page, click the title of the Blog to get to the blog page… Thanks one and all.

Hi Sue,
Great idea. While not exactly my favorite Brora Golf Club in Northern Scotland was certainly a gem that lives in my memory. I played it with my son and that was part of enjoyment. Course is hard by the sea and fairways cropped by sheep and cows. Greens are encircled by single strand low voltage wire to keep animals off. URL gives more details on course. We stayed in nearby hotel that is headquarters of James Braid Society, a group that is somewhat like Shivas Irons Society. FYI, I’m of member of SIS.

Sue:
Great site. Just to add my comments, my favorite two golf courses are:
Otesaga at Cooperstown, NY. Resort course and great layout and very challenging.
Stonehouse at Williamsburg, Va. A lynks style golf course with manyholes your tee shot is to a sightingpole, Natural topography and fun course to play. In 1990’s was oneof the best of new courses.
Enjoy your tour.

Hi Sue,
Love your new Web site. Jerry and I love Metropolis Country Club Golf Course in White Plains, NY. That’s where Paul Runyan and Harry Cooper were pros and good friends of my folks.
Have a great few months. We miss you here at UP.

Walking UPCC is a chore–lots of rain, ponds are full and Ashley was delighted today when he said you would be back soon. People starting to return to UPCC so I know you will be along soon. Great site!!

Sue (a.k.a. Coach) – One of these days I hope you’ll join me in playing the Vineyard Golf Club on Martha’s Vineyard, where I’m a Founding Member. President Obama played there last Thursday. The course was designed by Donald Steel and resembles Muirfield with the fields of high fescue grass.
Looking forward to your return.
